Five Fairies and a Toblin

(The brilliant artwork on this page is courtesy of Chloe May Smart)

For the favoured ones among you who believe in toblins and fairies:

You may recollect the Toblin and his bothersome antics, which were outlined recently in the Stop Press section of this website. However, I doubt very much that any of you will be familiar with these fairies:

Firstly, the enchanting and talented Lavendula, The Lavender Fairy.

Then, the gifted and charming Rosetta, The Rosebud Fairy.'

Next, the beautiful and serene Raindrop,

The Rainbow Fairy.

Not forgetting, of course, the graceful and ravishing Snowella, The Snow Fairy.

And that's it. But wait a minute ... we said five fairies didn't we ...........?

Well ... finally ... there is the extraordinarily greasy and

remarkably grimy, Eggabon, The Egg and Bacon Fairy.

Now, Lavendula, Rosetta, Raindrop and Snowella all lived at the top of a beautiful ash tree. Each had their very own fairy apartment, which they kept spotless, and each had a particular responsibility, designated by The Fairy Queen.

Together, Lavendula and Rosetta looked after the Lavender Fields in Carshalton. They were also responsible for ensuring that all the garden roses in the Borough of Sutton were the right colour and texture and that they didn't have too many thorns.

Raindrop and Snowella were heavily involved with the Met Office, in a number of projects. These included obtaining for Santa Claus details of snowfall over Christmas and researching the amounts of rain required for the various grades of rainbow.

Eggabon lived in a very scruffy basement of an illkempt tanglewood tree. She was responsible for ... No, hold it just there ... Eggabon was not responsible for anything, because she was simply the most irresponsible fairy that ever existed.

And what about the Toblin?

The Toblin lived at the top of a tree,

Which was a real pain, because he had to go down loads of stairs, if he wanted a wee.

One day, he left it too late, which meant that all the fellahs,

Walking around,

On the ground,

Had to put up their umbrellas.

More about the five fairies and The Toblin will follow in due course.
